Determine exact billable weight and dimensional surcharges for UPS Ground and Air shipments.
UPS calculates dimensional weight for all domestic and international shipments exceeding 1 cubic foot (1,728 cubic inches). If the dimensional weight exceeds the actual package weight, UPS bills based on the higher dimensional weight value.
For packages measured in inches and pounds, multiply Length × Width × Height and divide by 139 (for daily rate accounts):
(Length × Width × Height) ÷ 139 = Dimensional Weight (lbs)
UPS requires each package dimension to be rounded up to the nearest whole inch before calculating volume. For example, a box measuring 12.2" × 10.5" × 8.1" is rounded up to 13" × 11" × 9".
